About Our Holiday Blend
This year’s Holiday Blend is something truly extraordinary. We’re combining two insanely diverse and unique coffees from award-winning micromills — Las Lajas of Costa Rica and Café Granja La Esperanza’s Potosí Farm in Colombia — to craft what we believe is not only our best Holiday Blend in over six years, but quite possibly our most remarkable blend ever.
Las Lajas × Potosí — A Celebration of Innovation and Heritage
Las Lajas — The Spirit of Innovation
Oscar and Francisca Chacón are third-generation producers whose passion and persistence have shaped Las Lajas into one of Costa Rica’s most celebrated micromills. Their journey began in 2005, when they joined the country’s “micromill revolution” — buying their own depulper to gain control over quality and pricing. Out of humble experimentation came world-changing results: they pioneered Honey and Natural processing in Costa Rica, creating vibrant, complex, and deeply expressive coffees.
Even adversity became a catalyst for creativity. When an earthquake in 2008 cut off power and water during harvest, the Chacóns turned challenge into opportunity, crafting their first Natural lots using raised drying beds inspired by African techniques. Today, their meticulous processing and signature flavor profiles set the standard for innovation in specialty coffee.
Potosí (La Esperanza) — A Legacy of Excellence
The story of Café Granja La Esperanza begins in 1945, when Juan Antonio Herrera and Blanca Ligia Correa cultivated their first crops at Potosí Farm in Colombia’s Valle del Cauca region. Through decades of dedication, their children — especially Rigoberto and Luis Herrera — transformed the family tradition into a global force for coffee excellence.
By introducing and adapting rare varietals like Yellow Bourbon, Red Bourbon, Caturra, and later Geisha, they pushed the boundaries of what Colombian coffee could be. Their work gained international acclaim when their Panamanian farm, La Carleida, won Best Coffee of Panama in 2008. Today, Granja La Esperanza’s coffees are celebrated for their precision, purity, and bold experimentation — each cup a testament to heritage refined through relentless pursuit of perfection.
