About Our Light Roast
Our Light Roast is hands down our favorite, underestimated roast. We cannot say enough about our Light Roast Coffee Beans. In general, Light Roast Coffee Beans tend to be overlooked because people are looking for a “punch” of flavor. We are here to break those barriers. This is an extremely flavorful and impressive coffee with flavor notes that resemble honey, citrus fruit, and florals with a crisp, clean, and silky light body.
We have found that our Light Roast makes an incredible espresso or an equally delicious, beautiful, and bright drip coffee.

Ethiopia
This coffee comes from our washing-station partners at Adado, which is in the kebele, or village, of Shara, in the woreda, or district, of Guanga, in the Yirgacheffe region. This coffee is named after the local tribe, "Adado." In these coffees, typically apricots and peaches with supportive citrus and floral higher tones come together in a delightful cup. The process of these lots really complement the typical profile of the washed coffee beautifully and even shine through the heavy berry overtones in a natural process.

Colombia
Our coffee from Colombia comes from various smallholder farmers in the Huila region.
We entrust our Colombia sourcing to Cafe Imports, who have had boots on the ground (and spoons in the cup) here since our earliest days. Cafe Imports sources strong, versatile workhorse coffees from the regions of Cauca, Huila, Nariño, and Tolima and discover and develop micro-lots from all over the country.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is the roast date printed?
Yes, our roast date is printed on the bottom of each bag.
Is the coffee roasted to order?
Yes, we currently roast all orders twice a week (Tuesday and Saturday).
Is coffee seasonal like produce?
Just like produce, coffee can have multiple seasons and harvests depending on the country of origin. We source all our raw materials during the current and optimal season.
Where do you currently source your coffee from?
Brazil, Colombia, Ethiopia, Kenya, Tanzania, Costa Rica, Sumatra, Honduras, Nicaragua
Is the coffee whole bean coffee?
Yes, all of our coffees are whole bean coffee and we currently do not offer any ground coffee.
What makes the best light roast coffee?
The best light roast coffees are those that highlight the bean's natural flavors and origin, often referred to as its terroir. Unlike darker roasts, where the roasting process imparts bold, smoky flavors, light roasts preserve the delicate, nuanced taste notes inherent to the coffee itself.
These can include bright citrus, floral, fruity, or honey-like characteristics.
All of the Coffee Bros. light-roasted specialty coffee beans preserve and highlight the terroir.
What coffee roasting machine do you use for your light roast?
Our current coffee-roasting machine is a Probat P25, a natural gas drum roaster that can handle upward of 30 – 50 lbs of coffee per batch.
We have roasted on several machines from Loring, Mill City, and now we are currently on a Probat, and this may change in the future.
The Probat drum roaster allows us to get slightly more body in our light roast while retaining optimal flavor notes and avoiding any bitter flavors. We take most of our light-roasted coffees just beyond first crack, and most end in the 395 – 405 degree Fahrenheit range. We find this to be the ideal range, which both preserves terrior and highlights the citric acidity we are looking for.
