About The Coffee

This special edition offering pays tribute to Don Franco López, the visionary behind Finca La Mina and one of Colombia’s most cherished coffee producers. For over 40 years, Don Franco poured his heart into the land, perfecting washed, natural, and honey processing methods. His farm became a place of learning, laughter, and legacy—impacting not only the local community but coffee lovers around the world.

A cornerstone of our Colombian lineup for the past three seasons has been La Mina’s Honey Medina—a honey-processed coffee that quickly became a fan favorite. First discovered at the Specialty Coffee Association Expo, it stood out for its rich body, striking fruit notes, and refined clarity—delivering the best of both natural and washed profiles. This coffee, more than any other, captured what we seek in exceptional coffee and what Don Franco perfected over decades of dedication.

As we celebrate Don Franco’s life, we are proud to share this collection, highlighting the coffees he so passionately cultivated. His spirit lives on in every harvest, every story, and every cup.

As his family wrote:

"Aunque hoy nos despedimos, sabemos que tu espíritu seguirá presente en cada cosecha, en cada aroma y en cada sorbo de café que compartamos."

“Though we say goodbye today, we know your spirit will remain present in every harvest, every aroma, and every sip we share.”

About the Producer

Franco Lopéz has lived in La Mina for many years; in fact,
he inherited the farm from his parents. He says that he decided to dedicate his whole life to coffee because he wants to maintain his family's tradition. In addition, every day, he finds a new way to improve the production of coffee, even in small steps.

In the farm, you can find it is organized by plot, the age of the coffee trees, and varietal. You can also find other types of plantations, such as corn, kidney beans, bananas, oranges, and tangerines. On the other hand, he feels grateful for this product, since, thanks to coffee, Franco's family has been united for a long time because he shares the land with his brothers, and they are enthusiastic about the quality of coffee.

This family has been pleasantly surprised by their performance in different contests, such as the Cup of Excellence, where they emerged victorious. They felt their many years of effort and constant learning from processing had been rewarded. Also, they have been working hard to improve infrastructure and their village road. This family's primary purpose is to integrate agricultural regenerative practices into their farm to recover the soil. He hopes to keep sharing his knowledge and passion with his family and community to produce better coffee!
