Baratza Sette 270
The Baratza Sette 270 is a high speed conical burr grinder designed for home espresso enthusiasts who want greater control over grind size and dosing. Featuring 40mm conical burrs manufactured in Liechtenstein, it delivers grinding speeds of approximately 3.5–5.5 grams per second, helping you prepare fresh coffee quickly without complicating your routine.
What sets the Sette 270 apart is its dual adjustment system (macro and micro adjustments). With 31 macro adjustment steps and a stepless micro adjustment ring, you can make broad changes when switching brewing methods and finer adjustments when dialing in espresso. The grind adjustment mechanism connects directly to the cone burr, allowing changes to take effect immediately.
The front mounted digital control panel also includes three programmable timed dose presets, adjustable in increments as small as 0.01 seconds. Combined with a convertible holder that accommodates portafilters, the included grounds bin, and several manual brewing devices, the Sette 270 offers a flexible workflow for espresso and brewed coffee.
Whether you are refining an espresso recipe or preparing coffee for a pour over, the Sette 270 combines fast grinding, fine adjustment, and programmable dosing in one home grinder.
Sette 270 Features:
Baratza Sette 270
Built for Precision Espresso, Without Complicating the Workflow
Its macro adjustment ring gets you into the right grind range, while the stepless micro adjustment lets you refine the setting without making a large jump. Once you have found a grind and dose that work, save your preferred grinding time to one of the three programmable buttons.
The convertible portafilter holder keeps your espresso workflow organized, while the fast conical burrs help reduce the time spent grinding between shots.
And when you are ready for a V60 or another manual brew, you can adjust the grind range and switch to the included grounds bin or a compatible brewing device.
Additional Features
Anti Static Grounds Bin
The included grounds bin is made from anti-static plastic and features a molded pouring spout, making it convenient to transfer freshly ground coffee into a brewing device.
Bean Shutoff Hopper
The hopper features a bean shutoff knob that lets you close the flow of beans before removing the hopper for cleaning or changing coffees.
Adjustable Portafilter Hook
An integrated portafilter hook can be adjusted vertically to help accommodate different portafilter sizes and improve stability while grinding.
Removable Burr Assembly
The grind adjustment and cone burr assembly can be removed from beneath the grinder for cleaning, inspection, and maintenance.
Burr Recalibration
The Sette 270 supports recalibration using an included shim washer. If the finest settings no longer produce coffee fine enough for espresso after initial use, the washer can be installed beneath the cone burr to shift the overall grind range finer.

Baratza Sette 270 FAQ
What is the difference between the Baratza Sette 270 and Sette 30?
The biggest differences are grind adjustment and dosing controls. The Sette 30 uses a stepped macro adjustment system and a single adjustable grind timer. The Sette 270 adds stepless micro-adjustment for finer espresso dialing and three independently programmable timed-dose presets. It also includes an adjustable portafilter hook for more stable direct-to-portafilter grinding.
Is the Baratza Sette 270 stepped or stepless?
The Sette 270 uses both. It features 31 stepped macro settings for larger grind changes and a stepless micro-adjustment ring for smaller adjustments between those settings.
Can the Sette 270 grind for espresso?
Yes. The Sette 270 is designed with espresso grinding as a primary use. Baratza recommends macro settings 3–9 as general espresso starting points, with further adjustments made using the stepless micro-adjustment ring.
Can I grind directly into a portafilter?
Yes. The Sette 270 includes convertible holder arms and an adjustable portafilter hook. The hook helps support the portafilter and can be adjusted to keep it level beneath the grind outlet.
Can the burrs be recalibrated for finer espresso grinding?
Yes. The Sette 270 supports shim-based burr recalibration. If the grinder no longer reaches a sufficiently fine espresso setting after initial use, the included washer can be installed beneath the cone burr to shift the overall grind range finer.
Does each preset save a different grind size?
No. The three presets save grind durations only. Grind size is adjusted manually using the macro and micro adjustment rings.
