Baratza Sette 30

The Baratza Sette 30 brings speed and straightforward controls to the home espresso setup. Built around a 40mm conical burr set manufactured in Liechtenstein, it grinds approximately 3.5–5.5 grams per second, depending on the setting and coffee. That means less waiting between weighing beans, grinding, and pulling your next shot.

The Sette 30 offers 30 stepped grind adjustments, spanning fine espresso through manual brewing. Its grind-adjustment mechanism connects directly to the cone burr, while a front mounted digital timer allows you to set and repeat grinding cycles with 0.01-second setting precision.

A convertible holder accommodates either the included grounds bin or a portafilter, giving you flexibility in how you collect your coffee. The result is a grinder focused on getting coffee ground quickly, with approachable controls and fewer settings to navigate.

  • 40mm Conical Burrs

The Sette 30 uses 40mm conical burrs manufactured in Liechtenstein. Baratza specifies a grinding speed of approximately 3.5–5.5 g/sec, depending on the selected setting. At espresso fine settings, the manual estimates roughly 3.6 grams per second, allowing a typical double shot dose to be ground in approximately five seconds. Actual output varies with the coffee and grind size.

  • 30-Step Grind Adjustment

The Sette 30 uses a macro adjustment ring with 30 steps between its numbered endpoints of 1 and 31.  We suggests starting around setting 10 for espresso and setting 25 for manual brewing, then adjusting according to the coffee and extraction. The adjustment assembly is directly connected to the cone burr, so changes act directly on burr position.

  • Digital Timed Dosing

A front mounted control panel and backlit display let you set a grinding duration using the adjustment buttons. Press START and the grinder counts upward until it reaches the selected time, then stops automatically. The timer supports 0.01-second setting precision, but measures time rather than the weight of ground coffee.

  • Convertible Grounds Bin and Portafilter Holder

The Sette 30 comes with convertible holder arms for the included grounds bin or a portafilter. To change configurations, pull the arms out, rotate them 90 degrees, and reinsert them. The portafilter position provides a rest beneath the grind outlet. The manual explicitly states that this does not enable hands-free portafilter grinding.

  • Manual and Pulse Grinding

Hold START for more than two seconds to enter pulse mode, then keep the button pressed for as long as you want the grinder to run. Release to stop grinding, and press STOP to exit manual mode. This is useful for adjusting a dose without changing your preset grind time.

  • Adjustable Espresso Burr Calibration

As the burrs settle during initial use, you may find that the finest setting no longer produces coffee fine enough for your espresso setup. The Sette 30 supports secondary calibration using an included washer, or shim, beneath the cone burr. The manual provides instructions for installing it to shift the grind range finer.
