It is a compact grinder that comes with a programmable digital interface, 64mm flat burrs with micrometric grind adjustment for precision, programmable timed dosing, and a portafilter support with adjustable height to set up for easy day-to-day use.
With a 350g hopper, stainless steel body, and controls for both preset and manual grinding, the William is designed for home espresso drinkers who want a repeatable hopper based workflow without giving up fine control over grind setting and dose timing. Its LCC (Lelit Control Center) lets you program separate grinding times for single and double doses, while the manual add/stop button gives you extra control when you need to interrupt a programmed dose to add more coffee or to grind continuously.

Lelit William PL72 FAQ
Does the William grind by weight?
No. The PL72 uses time based dosing, not by weight dosing as it doesn’t have a scale built in. It runs the grinder for the programmed number of seconds, so users who want an exact dose in grams should verify output with a scale. Learn more about grind by time vs grind by weight grinders from us here!
Is the Lelit William PL72 designed for espresso?
Yes. The grinder is built around espresso use, with 64 mm flat burrs, micrometric grind adjustment, programmable timed dosing, a portafilter fork, and an adjustable chute for dosing directly into the filterholder.
Can I program single and double doses?
Yes. The LELIT Control Center (LCC) lets you save separate grind times for one and two doses. The factory settings are 3.0 seconds for a single dose and 5.5 seconds for a double, and either can be adjusted from 2 to 20 seconds.
How do I adjust the grind size?
Use the micrometric adjustment wheel. Turn it clockwise for a finer grind and counterclockwise for a coarser grind. Lelit instructs users to make grind adjustments only while the grinder is running to prevent the burr from grinding to each other.
How is the Lelit William PL72 different from the PL71?
The biggest differences are the burr size, dosing interface, and overall size. The PL72 uses 64 mm flat burrs and Lelit’s LCC display to manage grinding times, while the PL71 uses 50 mm flat burrs with dedicated grinding-time setting buttons. The PL72 is also slightly taller and heavier at 14 × 22.5 × 38.5 cm and 6.6 kg, compared with 14 × 22.5 × 36.5 cm and 6 kg for the PL71. Both models share micrometric grind adjustment, a 350 g hopper, an add/stop button, adjustable chute and portafilter support, and a removable grounds tray
Can I stop a programmed dose early or add more coffee?
Yes. The dedicated add/stop control can interrupt a programmed grind, add more coffee after the dose finishes, or run the grinder continuously while the button is held.
Can the portafilter stay in place while grinding?
Yes. The height adjustable filterholder pin can be raised or lowered so the portafilter is held securely on the fork during grinding.
How often should I clean it?
Lelit recommends cleaning the grinder after approximately 4 kg of coffee has been ground. The manual also gives a burr cleaning procedure using a dedicated grinder cleaning product. Check out the cleaning tutorial below!
